Public Design Commission Gives Preliminary Approval to City Point

Plans to develop City Point in Downtown Brooklyn seem to be proceeding, despite the site being identified as "stalled" late last year. The project was revived through the used of federal stimulus money and tax exempt bonds. On Monday, the Public Design Commission gave preliminary approval to Phrase IA, which will feature shops and restaurants. It will be part of a 40,000 square foot mixed-use development. The Commission plans to give final approval to the development in March. “After that, the next step is getting the building permit, then closing the bonds, then we can actually build something,” said Tom Montvel-Cohen. Motvel-Cohen is a representative for Albee Development LLC.
