Last week both Mayor Bloomberg (I) and Brooklyn Borough President Marty Markowitz (D) voiced support for the Domino Sugar redevelopment plan, but obstacles remain. State Assemblyman Vito Lopez (D – Brooklyn) and Councilman Stephen Levin (D – Brooklyn) have both declared their opposition to the plan. The project now passes to review by the City Planning Commission. The final step will be a vote before the City Council.
