An editorial in the New York Daily News urged Brooklyn Borough President Marty Markowitz (D) to approve the Domino Sugar redevelopment project. The editorial pointed out the numerous benefits of the project, including landmark preservation, the construction of affordable housing units and the creation of a new waterfront park. The editorial also called on Mayor Bloomberg and Council Speaker Christine Quinn (D – Manhattan) to fully support the project.
