On February 24, representatives from the Department of City Planning (DCP) released a preliminary proposal for rezoning of the Sunnyside and Woodside neighborhoods in Queens. The proposal would create a new commercial corridor along Queens Avenue. The plan will allow for greater density along this corridor with smaller maximum building sizes in residential areas. The DCP will spend the next six months consulting with Queens Community Board 2 and studying the environmental and traffic implications of any final rezoning measures.
