The Community Preservation Corporation this week defended the density and size of its proposal to redevelop Brooklyn’s old Domino Sugar refinery. Community Board 1 rejected CPC’s plan last week, citing affordability and density concerns. Although CPC addressed affordability issues earlier this week, the developers believe the proposed density is necessary for such a large-scale redevelopment; furthermore, developers believe Williamsburg-Greenpoint will continue to grow and will be able to absorb the development as it progresses over the course of many years.
